How Do I Register A Mat?

We invite you to bring your mats to one of our Registry locations where volunteers will:

  • Interview the owner of the mat to learn more about the mat/article
  • Examine and document the mat/article and take digital pictures.
  • Attach a tag with a Registry Number to the item.

What Mats Qualify For The Registry?

  • Any hooked mat/article made more than 25 years ago in New Brunswick or by someone born in New Brunswick.
  • Up to 4 mats per person qualify for registration at any one Registry

What Do I Bring To The Registry?

  • Your mat and any information about the mat maker–details about their life, such as where they lived, their interests or any activities that may have influenced their hooking.
  • Information about the design of the mat. For example, was the mat bottom purchased, adapted from a picture or source of inspiration, designed by the hooker or someone else?
  • Any printed material or photos pertaining to the mat or mat maker.

Is There Any Cost To Register?

There is no cost to individuals — the NBMR covers registration costs from corporate and individual donations.
