Biography:Olive Moody McKenna's father was British of Anglican faith and her mother was a Scottish Catholic. Olive lived in Sheffield, England, on a nobleman's estate until 1933. In 1933 she moved to Canada living on a farm in Upham, Kings County, New Brunswick. She moved to St. Stephen, New Brunswick, and lived there from the 1930's to 1940s. In the 1940s she moved to a farm in Apohaqui, New Brunswick, where she resided till her death. She was a farm wife, raising eight children. She learned how to hook from her mother and taught her daughters and grandchildren. She was involved in the community, belonging to the Apohaqui Recreational Association and Women's Institude along with several other groups. She would hook mats all winter, selling them from her parlour for each. She had approximately 20 different designs that she designed and hooked. She hooked for family use, creative expression, charitable causes as well as doing commissioned pieces. Her mats were exhibited in the King's County Agricultural Show where she won several ribbons and money; design was determined by the colours she had on hand, except for commissioned work; she hooked mainly with recycled jersey and would use feed and peanut bags
