Background: Farmer\fisher background Occupation: Teacher for two years; married and then became a housewife. Her husband was a fisherman. Group/Church/Activity: Member of UCW, hook/quilt with the ladies of the community. She had hooked mats before 1969. Mostly for family use. Brief Biography; Ola Theresa Briggs Stright's parents were Mary Borne Dobsin and Thomas Briggs; she grew up in Spence Settlement and attended school there. Afterwards, she moved to Fredericton and attended Norman School there. She worked as a school teacher for about 2 years until being married to her husband, Frederick Fields Stright. She was married at her home in Spence Settlement. She had one son, Neil William, who was born on March 8th, 1932. Ola had polio when she was just 2 years old. That however, did not hold her back from needlework. |
