| Biography: | Mary Helena Frazee's ancestors came to New Jersey from Scotland in the 1600's, from there they immigrated to Nova Scotia and then settled in Carsonville, NB. She lived in Norton, NB, until 1969 then moved to Sussex, NB. The house in Sussex was too small to allow a big frame so she gave up rug hooking but continued to quilt and braid rugs in the barn. Mary was educated in the public school and worked as household help in Rothesay, NB. She was a member of the Anglican Church and was active in the church guild and other activities. She learned how to hook rugs from her mother. She and her sister Cora would hook rugs together. |
