Biography:Mary Audrey Roberts [Willar] McDonald lived in Saint John from 1934 to 1971 then to London, Ontario from 1971 to 2018. She hooked her mats for warmth. At the age of 16, she went to look after a man with five children and she later married him and had nine more children. She was involved in St. Luke's Anglican church in Saint John and the local soup kitchen. She played Euchre and knitted as an outreach project. She learned to hook from her mother Bessy Roberts and made her first mat when she was nine. She also quilted.
