| Biography: | Mary Aileen Somerville Smith was the daughter of Malcolm MacDonald Somerville and Mary Freda Jenkins. She lived in Saint John until her marriage to Dr. Donne Watson Smith on June 21, 1948. She was working as a laboratory technician at that time. From 1942 to 1945 she attended Mount Allison University where she graduated with a BSc. She moved with her husband to Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, from 1948 to 1950 then to St. Andrew's from 1950 to her death in 2013. She was a founding member of the St. Andrews Civic Trust, volunteered at the Ross Museum and attended Wesley United Church. She loved to cross stitch, paint, drama club, knitting and sewing. Her daughter, Barbara Smith, taught her to hook. Her granddaughter, Hilary Weller, also hooks. |
