| Biography: | Margaret Monahan Maxwell lived on a farm where there was an ample supply of feed sacks which she sometimes used for backing; her grand-daughter remembers that there was always a rug in progress in a frame; her daughter and grand- daughter also hooked; coats, dresses and pants were often recycled and dyed in a big pot, using beets and plant material. |
