Greenock, , , Scotland
Canadian, 1889 - 1980
Biography:Margaret Georgina McDougall Grant was raised on a farm in Greenock, Scotland. In 1928, she emigrated to Canada, probably to Halifax, NS. She later moved to Cape Spear, NB, and then to Melrose, NB. She and her husband raised eleven children and ran a large farm. Nine of their children were born in Scotland. Five of their children went to war. Two daughters and three sons were in the army. Margaret was fairly religious and enjoyed hooking. She also loved watching wrestling. She cut her own kindling after her husband died. For her 90th birthday, she received a chain saw from her eleven children and used it. She made butter Easter out of moulds. She picked raspberries, pickled, and her sons fished for lobster. Many of her mats were stolen from her home one winter and they were never returned.
