Biography:Laurianne Landry LeBlanc moved to Ottawa in 1960 where she lived until 1965 and then moved to St. Joseph where she still lives today. She was a seamstress at Creighans (a store) and did home care. She did crafts and sold many of them. Her work was influenced by her Acadian ancestry and her great grandmother, Marianne O'Neill (who was Irish on her father's side) and who spoke French. Laurianne's sisters and sisters-in-law also hooked. After making mats with her sisters, she decided at the age of twelve to make her own. She sold them to Jewish people. She kept the scraps of material from her job as a seamstress.
