Biography:Laura Oldford Critchley's mother died when she was eight. She started hooking when she was five and never attended school. She was asthmatic. She later worked at a logging camp where she met and married her husband, Charles James Masterman Critchley, in 1927. They later moved to Grand Falls, NL. She moved to Gambo, NL, when her husband retired in 1943. They had one daughter, Ruby Watters and three sons; Phillip, Jim, and Cecil.
