| Biography: | Ina Matilda Hicks Kelly lived in a farmland/rural area in Stilesville and worked as a housewife. She was an active member of the Methodist Church, a Ladies aid, and quite good at quilting. Her daughter also hooked. Hooking was done for family use. She married Leslie Kelly of Stilesville in 1918. Besides raising her family of 12 children, living with and looking after her in-laws and feeding hired men, she still took time to indulge in her passion for rug hooking. Her designs came from her own imagination. As well, she made many beautiful quilts. |
