| Biography: | Ilmi Sundby Johnson was the daughter of Captain Christian Sundby (1851-1934) and Klara N. Olsen (1856-1918). In 1886, she moved to Port Elgin, NB. She later ran a confectionary store in Port Elgin. She was a member of St. James Presbyterian church where she was very active, joining the Ladies Aid and choir. She also enjoyed tatting. Ilmi probably learned to hook mats from her mother. She married married Charles Johnson, an engineer, on 24 September 1906 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, but had no children. Her grandnieces also learned to hook. |
