Biography:Emma May Innis Weissender lived on a farm until age three when she moved to Saint John, New Brunswick. In 1964, she moved to Kingston, Ontario, followed by moves to Northern Quebec; London, Ontario; Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; Nackawic, New Brunswick; Long Island, NY and Rothesay New Brunswick, where she currently resides. She worked as a nurse and social worker. She learned how to hook mats from her grandmother, Mabel Nason. Emma May stayed with her grandmother for the entire summer of 1945. They worked together on the mat that she named Tulips. She was interested in art from an early age. She made quilts while in nursing. She has taken art classes at Sunbury Shores from Molly Lamb Bobak. She continues to paint watercolour, oil and egg tempera. She also writes historical fiction and children's books. She has written the history of the Saint John Art Club.
