| Biography: | Place of residence: City. Location of residence: Moncton since 1921, New Brunswick. Ethnic Influences/background: English, and very artistic. Occupation/Education: Homemaker, finished high school. Groups/Church/Activities: United Church Women (UCW). How did the Hooker learn?: She learned as a child from her mother. Other family: Her mother and her aunt Kate. Hooking was done for family use and creative expression. Emma moved to Moncton, New Brunswick with her family when she was six years old and attended school there. She was married and raised two children. As a child, she learned to appreciate the things she learned from her mother, such as cooking, painting, and rug hooking. She continued these throughout the rest of her life, along with curling, sewing, crafts as well as participation in her community; mostly in the United Church Women (UCW). After the loss of her husband, she was able to do some travelling and she continued with her many interests. At the age of 70, she married Mr. Fewer from Woodstock, New Brunswick and they lived in Moncton. |
