Biography:Doreen Elizaabeth Rogers Kissick moved to England, then back to Toronto in 1937. She married Norm Kissick in Muskoka, Ontario, in the 1950s. In 1960 she moved to Fredericton,NB, then back to Ontario, then the United States and finally back to Fredericton. She had a background in bookkeeping. She was inspired by an aunt in England who was adept with needlework. Doreen was a volunteer with the Girl Guides of Canada for seventy-eight years. She also served on the Inter Church Refugee Committee, the United Church Provincial Presbytery, a life member of the Multicultural Association, the United Church Women from 1960 to 2012, and the I.O.D.E. She hooked for over fifty years and taught hooking, dyed her own wool and designed her own patterns. She first learned to hook in 1950, in Massachusett, while her husband was at Yale. She has taught hooking and joined the UNB Craft Group with others who hooked. Her daughter Kathleen (since deceased) also hooked.
