How did the hooker learn: An older lady from Neguac(?), Lilianne Dubocquet (she was an accomplished rug hooker), in the 1970s taught her. She encouraged Carmelle to hook her own designs. Carmelle's grandmother, Victorine Bourque, hooked rugs too. Hooking was done for creative expression.
