Biography:Place of residence: Farm/rural Location of residence: Charlotte County, New Brunswick. Had a cottage in Oak Bay. Background: Married with no children Group/church/activities: Took lessons from an American lady who had a Summer house at Oak Bay. Travelled widely in Canada and the United States studying rug hooking. She did all her own dying often over a fire using Stanfields' underwear. The hooker started as a small girl and continued to grow her skill all the way up to elderly age. Purpose of Hooking?: Family use and social times Aldana Leland Gallant had hand-dyed all her own wool from old underwear and much of the dyeing was done over an outside fire. Her beginning lessons in the craft were from an American lady who had a Summer home at Oak Bay and as a result, she studied the craft all over the USA and Canada. She had many rugs both as wall hangings and floor mat. One of which was a well-used floor mat. Unfortunately, most of her pieces were stolen in 1997 when her cottage was burglarized.
