Biography:Place of residence: Farm/rural, village, and a city; Location of residence: Beersville, NB (1918-1928), United States (1928-1936), Adamsville, NB (1936-1940), Moncton, NB (1940-1985). Ethnic Influences/background: Acadien Occupation: Canadian National Railway (CN) worker (shipping) and a magazine vendor (?) Education: 3rd or 4th grade Groups : member of the Caisse populaire, sold tickets for scouts and bingo How did hooker learn : by observing his mother, Emilienne Cormier, par observation. He began to hook shortly before his retirement at 65 years of age and he hooked for about 15 years. Autres membres de la famille s'adonnant au hookage : personne d'autour, seulement sa mère Hooking was done for creative expression. Albénie Arsenault's family had a craft shop, La Mitaine, in Moncton, NB, ( just before the underpass on Main Street). They would sell Albénie’s mats as well as paintings from Guy Arsenault, his son. He always worked alone and in the basement. He gave his mats to his children. Many members of his family were creative so he felt the need to produce his own work. He used his children's clothing to make his mats as well as some rags he brought home from CN.
